My Crib

So I live in a controlled, imaginary world and I imagine all kinds of wild things in my psychological box here. I imagine people are visiting my house at night to pump me and to view how things are going with me and my house. If this is actually the case, I figure I should at least try and explain my house to them like they do on those house walk-through youtube channels like Architectural Digest etc. I am a little hesitant to make a video of the house though because there's not that much to look at right now and also because I don't like showing my face off in public.

In the end, I'm trying to make this house a shining representation of everything my friends and I have accomplished and or will accomplish in the future. I think it is a reflection of all and how the poor are doing in this country.

This house has been a collective effort and contribution; my friends donated almost all of the furniture in this house. I want to thank everyone who has helped me renovate this place too. Can you all remember what a thrashed, filthy pig stye this place once was?

As I said, I didn't buy any of the things in this house except the pottery, the art, the wall decor, a office chair, a shelf and a aquarium stand! Yeah, rather than buy my own style I just decided to go with what was given to me. The furniture is a mix of traditional and contemporary styles. I had a interesting time figuring out where it was intended to be placed but I think it mostly all matches and reflects the design of this house.

This is a modular home so nothing here is too lavish or expensive. I do have a very, very nice cedar chest though- its real cedar wood! I really have to thank the person who gave me this cedar chest, she's a very thoughtful person and a big, beautiful, inspiring star.

The nicest thing that came along with this house is my bonsai artist. Yeah, I have a ton of live plants here, and one artificial one, which regularly gets pruned and sculpted. We try to keep it real in this house so what you see with the plants is really what it is. I love plants, they are by babies. I am planning to grow 27 plants in all here, which is alot considering this is only an 1100 square foot place with only two southern facing windows.

Upon inspecting the house you can tell a woman made the design decisions here. I was given a very nice couch from my aunt that I at first hated because it was a floral couch and floral was not my style. In fact, a floral couch was the complete opposite of everything I was planning for my "man cave" at the time (ha,ha,ha). But in the end, I have come to realize a woman knows best and the floral couch is what I actually have here. (At least it is a dark floral couch and doesn't have colors like pink and yellow in it! ha,ha,ha). Now instead of fighting the design style, I am flowing with it. I am actually even planning to put silk flowers up to match the couch, in hanging planters positioned in each of the "problematic" regions of this house.

I say problematic regions, because what is really unique about this house is its layout. It is designed to reflect the United States and world in its construction. I swear, this house was designed with me in mind because Dallas, Texas is smack dab in the middle of the house and reflected by a kitchen island. The kitchen is Europe, the living room is the Middle East and Africa. The hall bathroom is India. The office is Asia. My bedroom is Australia and the master bedroom and bathroom is South America and the United States respectively. The doorways here are 6'8", or my exact height. This house is just the right size for me; anything bigger would be audacious, anything smaller would be cramped.

I am trying to keep the whole house harmonious in its design. Yeah, I don't get most of the happy mismatched decor trends going on right now. Each room has its subtle differences though. The kitchen and living room are going to be a little farmhouse style. The latin room is going to be a little mid century. The US master bathroom is going to be a little victorian style. The bedroom is going to be a little modern. The office is going to be a little zen or wabi sabi style. The Indian bathroom is going to be a little elegant, traditional style. And the laundry room is going to be a little western. Altogether this place is mostly going to be an amalgam of zen, natural, modern yet historic and traditional, multicultural, nordic, western, and farmhouse styles with mind, water, sky, enviromental architecture and greenery and space exploration themed decor.  I don't know if it's common or not to implement so many styles and themes in one house, but wish me luck in meshing them all together harmoniously!

Again, this house is a work in progress and definitely not complete yet. I am enjoying the process of decorating it though, it gives me something to do I guess. For years the house looked a little like a sanitarium was here with stark white walls everywhere and no decor, but I am now getting permission from the cameras to paint over all that and decorate it as I deem fit. Actually, Donald Trump has a company that sells faux concrete wall panels, so I am going to be putting up concrete walls throughout the house. This house really is going to be a Trump house! (ha,ha,ha).

So again, I got big plans for this place and a ton of art and things to add into the house. I'm on a budget though so I can't buy everything at once. That's okay though because I think your design turns out nicer when its put together over time and or when everything is bought meaningfully as a sacrifice of sorts. But I am getting sappy now (ha,ha,ha). If there is one thing that I think this house is going to be, it's going to be a maximalist house, if such a style exists. Yeah, I'm using every square inch of this space!

I have to admit that so far I have mostly only bought things for the living room and kitchen area. I will try to buy things equally for each of the rooms going forward. It has taken some time to come up with an overall design plan for the house and learn about all the various decorating styles. Some design styles, like Asian design, are very in depth so I'm still researching that out. God told me however, my most impressive and best looking room is going to be my Latin room (ha,ha,ha). What we are doing in that northeast corner of the house there is really phenomenal.

Anyways, I really just wanted to write today and explain the flowers in my house. Please, don't nobody think I'm gay or anything! (ha,ha, ha).  Floral is a feminine thing I didn't really get until this couch was given to me and my mother who was a florist enlisted me to help her with a wedding she was running behind on. Yeah, I am not too man to admit I helped my mother make floral decorations once or twice (ha,ha,ha).

So I guess you can say flowers are a part of me now. As I said before, I'm even buying my own floral decorations for the hanging planters here. I'm not a floral design professional though, so I just hope they end up looking nice. Actually, maybe I can find a girlfriend and get her to design the florals for me. Now that's a better idea.

However, I just want to say, we are not going to go overboard with the flowers. You ladies have femmed me out far enough, I have my boundaries, and this is still a man's house in the end! (ha,ha,ha).

Well, as they say in the walk through videos, it's been real, and thanks for touring my house design. Remember, not to spend all your time in one place and I'll catch ya on the flipside.
